International Friendship Connection (IFC) aims to help welcome, serve, and support international students and families in Ames through family groups, events, and english conversation partners. It is a fellowship of international students and American friends who are sponsored by Cornerstone Church of Ames.

We are continually working hard to make Ames feel like a “home away from home” for many who are so far away from their own families, and hope to help others experience love, hope, and meaning in their lives.

Ways to join in

Family Groups

IFC Family Groups create an environment for international students to be able to share their lives with each other, express their needs, and serve each other. Once a week for a few hours, we share dinner; have discussions about God, the Bible and beliefs; play games; and hang out. Family Groups are a great way to share experiences, develop friendships, and have fun! It really feels like a home away from home!

English Conversation Partners

English Conversation Partners is a free program put on by International Friendship Connection. We seek to pair up native English speakers with those who are learning and wanting to practice. Partners will meet once a month for conversations to practice English and learn from each other.
